UHPRO Brine Positive

Brine Positive

Extracting more water from an existing plant with ultra-high pressure reverse osmosis (UHPRO).

BW Water’s UHPRO Brine Positive enables an existing seawater reverse osmosis plant to increase its capacity more easily when compared with traditional plant expansion plans, which often require the duplication of infrastructure and lengthy permitting processes.

From the same volume of seawater, UHPRO Brine Positive can recover about 22% more desalinated water.

In some cases, the concentrated brine from the UHPRO process may lower brine management costs or enable the recovery of valuable metals and minerals.

Why UHPRO

Suitable for hypersaline industrial brines from desalination and sectors such as semiconductor, mining and pharmaceutical.

Specific energy consumption estimated at between 4 to 6 kWh per cubic metre (for brine TDS 70 to 100 g/L).

Levelized cost of water estimated at between USD 1.5 to USD 3 per cubic metre (for brine TDS <70 g/L).

Enables zero liquid discharge (ZLD) with modular high recovery efficiency.

Specific energy consumption estimated at between 4 to 8 kWh per cubic metre (for brine TDS >100 g/L).

Levelized cost of water estimated at between USD 4 to USD 8 per cubic metre (for brine TDS >100 g/L).
