It has been an incredible journey of rapid growth for BW Water, a global provider of full-service water and wastewater solutions. The company, which is headquartered in Singapore, just turned six years old last month. In this update, BW Water shares some of the bold moves they have made to build an organisation that is truly focused on its mission to deliver water treatment systems which are cost effective and dependable.

BW Water entered the market in 2019 with its proprietary Hydro-PAQTM and Hydro-FILTM technology, along with a growing team of engineers who could provide tailored municipal and industrial water solutions. Starting out in Southeast Asia, the company quickly gained traction, securing six contracts in its first year across the municipal, solar, and food and beverage sectors. It was a strong start that laid the groundwork for future success.

Since then, BW Water has been delivering projects across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, while also breaking into the power and semiconductor sectors, achieving success even through the challenging COVID-19 period.

Projects and installations in Asia
In the municipal water treatment space in Asia, the company has already completed projects with a combined capacity of over 500 million litres per day. Right now, it is working on new municipal projects that will add over 800 million litres per day in capacity.
BW Group, a leading global company with businesses in maritime, renewables and sustainable technologies, became a major investor in 2021, supporting the company’s growth ambitions.
Through acquisitions in 2023, regional hubs in Florida, USA, and Stuttgart, Germany were added to support operations in the Americas and EMEA regions respectively, with on-going projects in the semiconductor, mining, and municipal water treatment sectors in the United States, Peru, Chile, Mongolia and Germany.

Backed by a 35-year track record in desalination and integrated system solutions with membrane treatment technologies, BW Water is well-positioned in the desalination market and plans to develop innovative solutions to address water resilience and water scarcity.

BW Water operates two fabrication facilities. One in Klipphausen, Germany, and another in Penang, Malaysia, which was expanded in 2024 to enable BW Water to manufacture equipment in-house, undertake larger fabrication volumes, deliver full-service solutions and supply to markets as far as South America.
Since entering the Indonesian market in 2021, BW Water has strengthened its ability to support the country’s water sector. Beyond municipal water treatment, BW Water is well-equipped to serve a range of industries, including mining, semiconductors, data centres, and food and beverage. In addition, BW Water offers solutions such as Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT), Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM), Design-Build-Operate (DBO), and Water-as-a-Service (WaaS).
These solutions generate a win-win relationship for public entities and private companies, allowing customers to focus on their core business.
