SINGAPORE – October 24, 2025 – BW Water received the Water Treatment Excellence – Indonesia award for the SPAM Jatiluhur Regional 1 project at the Asian Water Awards 2025, which was held in Kuala Lumpur on October 23.

The award recognised the company’s design, supply, installation, and commissioning of electro-mechanical works for two treatment plants located at Cibeet and Bekasi.

Contributing to long-term water security in Jakarta and West Java

The SPAM Regional Jatiluhur 1 is a National Strategic Project to provide clean water to residents in Jakarta and West Java. With a total capacity of 4,750 litres per second, equivalent to 410,000 cubic metres per day, the system reduces reliance on groundwater and helps address land subsidence in urban areas. The facilities began commercial operation in December 2024, and were delivered under a public–private partnership led by WIKA Tirta Jaya Jatiluhur.

The award highlighted three key achievements of the project.

  • First, it marked the successful scaling of BW Water’s technologies, Hydro-PAQ™ and Hydro-FIL™, which were rightsized to meet Indonesia’s regional water treatment demand. SPAM Regional Jatiluhur 1 now has the largest Hydro-PAQTM and Hydro-FILTM systems in operation.
  • Second, the mechanical and electrical installation was completed in five months, with testing and commissioning finalised in ten days.
  • Third, BW Water delivered a comprehensive package covering the medium-voltage and low-voltage systems, raw water intake, distribution and pumping stations, Hydro-PAQTM and Hydro-FILTM, and the dewatering plant and offtakes. The comprehensive scope enabled BW Water to design and deliver the water treatment scope efficiently.
